Finisher's Medals
03:05
|
|||
You sure lay it on thick; your new side stitch. A badge of honour and they're so happy for you. A fifteen minute mile is how to do it in style, because you don't have to try but you can talk about it any time you like.
Hey everybody's a winner, so pat yourself on the back. They all get finisher's medals, so why try harder than that?
Black toenails in the sink cut right to the quick. Your 5k? I saw it. I don't want to talk about it. Let's talk negative splits! Or flexibility tips! But no, it's lowest common denominator every fucking time.

Once a Saltwater Lagoon
03:06
|
|||
Half asleep on the glass I think of how all the grey and the gloom was once a saltwater lagoon with curlew and halophyte blooms. Back on task, back to class, back to school.
Stuck in a wasteland, and I'm not like that but I can't get back.
"Thirteen weeks holiday! Who are they to complain?" all the parents are blessed to be stuck home with the kids, they're so important, more important than me.
Stuck in a wasteland, and I'm not like that but I can't get back.

Rare Earths
02:37
|

Let's put a line under this. A rare earth, a new curse. You're so down with the kids. Old coffin in a new hearse.
I'm not so like you; don't want nothing to do. I can't wait, I can't stay true.
Why don't you come down? That high horse is all yours. She doesn't want you around, stay bedsore and divorced.
I'm not so like you; don't want nothing to do. I can't wait, I can't stay true.

Animal Fat
03:48
|
|||
Red brick no flora no fauna; earthy, estuarine, too close to the water. Sail down that black river for days. Better coffee, bitter malaise.
Feel like the weight of the world on your lunch break with the girls? Say, "I won't let that animal fat come back!"
Pay-monthly charcuterie in the city; your knees stay ugly but your skeleton is pretty. That spin class; the last cellulite cull. Nothing's real but it's all visceral.
Feel like the weight of the world on your lunch break with the girls? Say, "I won't let that animal fat come back!"

Ankling
02:20
|

Turn on, clock in, and fade out, it's only my career
So I'll take it easy and try to keep up the thin veneer
There's no white echoes on my floor, it's just sofa and TV
and I've got my whole life left to reach mediocrity
Weeks come to an end, I'll outwake my friends and be on my own
Spend 36 hours awake, but still I can't shake the urge to escape
Let's go

Super Sunday
02:21
|
|||
Babies, torn ligaments and sore knees. I put a hex on every one I select, the ones I kept all get benched, except the ones who get reds. The captain's dead. Nothing else could ruin my weekend so completely. I can't keep taking in what's making me sick but I'm too good to quit.
Honestly, anything could help me. Is it permanent or temporary? It's pertinent, because if class is permanent and my form is temporary, then why would I let this ruin my weekend so completely?
Hedge all your bets! Copy the picks! You can't shoot the moon on every single trick. Team sheets are out, so circle the dates; mediocrity awaits.
